My name is Joshua Wingerd, hence the URL for this site.
Three of my most personal posts:
Otherwise, I am husband to Rachel (we married in 2020), and father of two beautiful children: Jeremiah (4) and Huntleigh (2). If the blog has not been updated recently, odds are it’s because after my full-time job, I’ve been prioritizing my favorite people. We are expecting our third child in April.
My full time job is substitute teacher. I’ve been substitute teaching since 2018. I started in California, and now I work for a school district in Kansas City, Missouri. I’m certified to teach middle school and high school English, but as of yet I’ve been unable to land a role as a full-time teacher.
I hold a Bachelors in Biblical Studies from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO (2015), and a Masters of Theological Studies with a concentration in Biblical Studies from Gateway Seminary in Ontario, CA (2023). I got those degrees with the hope of someday becoming a pastor, and while that vision hasn’t completely evaporated, I am currently praying about the possibility of going back to school (for one of the following):
- PhD in Biblical Studies or Church History
- Masters in Counseling
- Masters of Fine Arts with a Creative Writing emphasis
Time will tell.
When I’m not with my family or at work, I’m often at local libraries or coffee shops writing. For a list of my available works, check out my store. I have many more projects in the works, though right now my focus is twofold:
- Advent devotional for 2026
- Soldier—Awakening, book 2
Soldier, and Stranded before it, is a memoir-thriller about my life story and (often limping) walk with Christ. Other fiction projects I have in mind are thriller, fantasy, apocalyptic sci-fi, historical, philosophical, and even romance. I also have multiple non-fiction projects in mind as well as musical projects.
I have a dream of some day fully funding my family by my writing, so if something on my store page strikes your interest, I’d be honored and appreciative of your purchase.
Thanks for taking the time to read, and thank you for your interest in my work.
God bless!
