There is a new feature here on the blog. You can now search for where I discuss various passages of Scripture. Eventually, you will also be able to search other primary source material (Church Fathers, Pseudepigrapha, Qur’an, etc.), but since I’ve yet to really utilize these sources on the blog, I have not yet indexed them (more on that below).
It is lamentably true that many of the index links will link to nothing, but if you find that to be the case and are disappointed when you discover I have not referenced a given text (or have not written in-depth on a text) on the blog, click here and send a message requesting a discussion of the text.
It is worth noting that this index is currently only indexed to the chapter level (e.g., Genesis 1; Philippians 4; Zephaniah 3; etc.). If you are interested in locating a specific verse, click on the chapter you desire, and from there type the following at the end of the search bar: ?s=. Immediately following the =, you can type the Bible passage you desire.
For instance, if curious about my thoughts on Genesis 1:3, you would go to https://lilfytr.com/tag/scripture-genesis-1/, and then add ?s=, so that it reads https://lilfytr.com/tag/scripture-genesis-1/?s=, and then type “Genesis 1:3” (with the quotation marks) so that your search is limited to that exact phrase: https://lilfytr.com/tag/scripture-genesis-1/?s=”Genesis 1:3″.
One of the downfalls of the index is seen in the above search. The search “Genesis 1:3” naturally includes “Genesis 1:31,” which is the actual passage referenced in the only blog post that is returned by the search described (and linked) above, so in actual fact, I have never referenced Genesis 1:3 on this blog, until now. (This post will not appear in an index search.)
Additionally, if it’s a common passage sequence, like Proverbs 3:5-81 or Romans 8:38-39, you can type them in and they will return results, but unfortunately, this index will not be able to find–for example–references to Genesis 1:6 or even Genesis 2:4 in a blog that contains a reference to Genesis 1:1-2:4. (The latter link proves that this reference exists, and the two prior searches return nothing–or at least not that post).
However, if I get enough paid subscribers to support my research and writing on this site (more information to follow soon), then I will rework these indexes down to the verse level, and also activate the other indexes listed on the Indexes page.
A final note is that the hits that this index will return are listed newest to oldest. The newer the post, the sooner you’ll see it in the list, and the more likely it represents my current theological understanding. There are posts throughout this blog that I now disagree with, that I don’t want to delete for the simple fact of showing how I’ve grown and matured in my thinking over the years. If something you read here strikes you as odd (or as contradicting something else here), leave a comment and I will reply as soon as possible with an explanation.
Again, please let me know if there are texts you would like to know more about. And I sincerely pray that God blesses you as you study his Word with me through this blog.
In this with you.
Thanks for reading.
- I know that usually people refer only to Proverbs 3:5-6, but given that my references to this text always go through verse 8, I altered it here for the sake of the examples. ↩︎
